Health is Everything

This publication is for practical souls who want to understand what makes their communities healthy or unhealthy and how they got that way.  Is it the number of people who have health insurance? The prevalence of obesity and heart disease? The rate of violent crime or the ratio of parks or grocery stores to people? Why does having a college degree correspond to longer life? And how do race and class fit into the equation?

Are you a journalist who wants your work to make a difference?  Apply now for our all-expenses-paid National Fellowship, which provides reporting grants of $2,000 to $10,000 to 20 journalists from around the country (and community engagement grants of up to $2,000 for five), six months of expert mentoring.  Deadline: March 23.
